Lemoore, CA – Super Featherweight WBC Continental Americas champion Andy Vences (18-0 10KOs) of San Jose, CA, continued his winning ways defending his title in his home state for the first time by picking up a tough decision over Angel Hernandez at the Tachi-Palace Casino and Hotel in Lemoore, CA in front of a sold-out crowd.

Vences landed the cleaner and more accurate punches as Hernandez constantly applied pressure, but was unable to land the cleaner punches.

“[Angel Hernandez] was a good fighter. He came to fight, I heard people saying I was taking a step back in my career, but I would tell them ‘hell no’. He has fought Erick De Leon, Ivan Najera, Robert Easter Jr. and those guys couldn’t take him out.”

Vences said that he focused on power early in the fight and went away from speed, which he felt hurt him later in the fight, but was satisfied with the performance.

“I got the W, we’re happy, I am going to celebrate and we have some stuff to work on in the gym.
