Golden Boy Promotions‘ L.A. Fight Club resumed its series as the sold out crowd saw Azat Hovhannisyan improve to (12-2, 10 KOs) with a one-sided eight round unanimous decision victory over Isao Carranza (15-9-1, 8 KOs) in the main event at The Belasco Theater in Downtown, Los Angeles on Friday night.

Hovhannisyan was clearly the better fighter, landing shots at will. Carranza tried to put up a fight but he continued to get battered with combinations.

Carranza kept coming forward and tried to close the distance but Hovhannisyan would counter with three-punch combinations.

When the fight was over Caranza’s face was bruised, with cuts above his eyes.

All three judges scored the bout 80-72 in favor of Hovhannisyan and giving the Armenian fighter his sixth consecutive victory.

“I got the win tonight – the energy of the crowd and being the main event was great,” said Hovhannisyan.

“I hurt my hand in the last rounds, and I was only fighting with one hand – that’s why they call me ‘Crazy A’ in the ring, you don’t know what you’ll get from me.”

The co-main event featured two undefeated welterweight fighters. Santa Ana native Alexis Rocha defeated Cesar Valenzuela (7-1, 2 KOs) by unanimous decision to improve to 8-0 with 5KOs.

The 19-year-old southpaw Rocha dominated the fight with good combinations to the head and body. Rocha would repeatedly stagger Valenzuela with power shots.

Valenzuela showed a strong chin and scored at times with lead right hands but Rocha would counter with solid combinations.

Although Valenzuela pressed the action, Rocha’s talent was on display with right hooks and left crosses.

Golden boy’s rising prospect Rocha received an 80-72 score from all three judges.

“I knew it was going to be a tough fight when we took it, and I knew I wasn’t going to be able to blow him away,” said Rocha.

“I feel great, not many 19-year olds can say they can go all eight rounds, or say that they have eight straight victories.”
