On Saturday, April 29, 2017, Omar Chavez (36-3-1, 24 KOs) scored a second-round TKO victory against Ramon Alvarez (24-6-2, 16 KOs) to win the NABO Super Welterweight title in Chihuahua, Mexico.

The scheduled 10-rounder was a rematch of a fight that took place on September of 2014, which Alvarez won via unanimous decision.

This time, however, things would end up quite differently as Chavez pummeled Alvarez in only two rounds.

In the first round, Alvarez, a 30-year-old native of Jalisco, Guadalajara, Mexico, had his moments as he displayed head movement and skill–the kind of skill that allowed him to take the win the first time.

However, in Round 2, Chavez was more aggressive, and, because Alvarez relied too much on his head movement, which was much less dextrous than he thought, Chavez continually landed hard right hands and left hooks that soon forced the stoppage.

Howver, the bigger story tonight is the fact that both men have much more popular and successful brothers who will face each other on Saturday, May 6, 2017 in an HBO PPV showdown. It was a nice warm-up fight for next week.

Thus, rather than asking the reader about the fight this article was originally about, who do you think wins Canelo-Chavez Jr.?
