As the world waits for an official announcement of the Middleweight clash between Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez, one thing is clear: it will not be on November 7.

Another thing, according to Carlos Narváez Rosario of ESPNDeportes.com, is that the event will not be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Both have been officially discarded for the upcoming PPV clash.

“That paved the way,” says Rosario, “for a new venue: The Mandalay Bay Events Center.”

“Miguel Cotto’s legal advisor and the man in charge of his negotiations, lawyer Gabriel Penagaricano, revealed on Saturday morning that the conversations have been constant every day and that the options have now been limited to the Madison Square Garden in New York, the Thomas and Mack Center and the Mandalay Bay–the last two of which are in Vegas,” Rosario continued.

I’m no math whiz, but odds are that we’ll see this fight taking place in Las Vegas, but the New York option is still there.
