On Saturday, May 7, 2016, former Middleweight title challenger Curtis Stevens (28-5, 21 KOs) scored a second-round TKO victory against former prospect Patrick Teixeira (26-1, 22 KOs) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The scheduled 10-round fight opened up the HBO PPV telecast of Canelo vs. Khan.

In the opening round, Stevens pushed forward quickly with short shots on Teixeira in order to quickly test his younger opponent.

Teixeira tried to find his rhythm, but a quick left hand hurt him in Round 1 and prevented him from doing so.

In the following round, Stevens landed a hard shot that quickly dropped Teixiera. The referee, seeing Teixeira was badly hurt, immediately topped the fight.

“The name of the game is to knock people out and that’s what I did tonight,” said Curtis Stevens.

“I feel great to get back into the game after my one and a half year break. I really want Lemieux, but I will take whatever I can get. My head is right, and I’m ready to take on whoever,” said Stevens.

“Throughout the fight, I didn’t know if I was winning or losing,” said Teixeira.

“This fight was not how I expected it to go.”
