A fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin is at the top of almost every boxing fans wishlist.

The potential mega fight could happen in September of 2017, and if it does, former pound-for-pound king, Floyd Mayweather is confident of who will win.

In a recent interview with various media members, Mayweather was asked about a potential matchup between the Mexican superstar and Kazakh crusher.

“Canelo beats GGG easily, ya, he stops him,” said Mayweather. Mayweather, who for years faced criticism from the boxing public for seemingly ducking a fight with Manny Pacquiao, also had some advice for Canelo.

“Do what makes you happy, Canelo. For years they called me a coward, they said I was scared of Manny Pacquiao. All that did was inspire me to work harder. There is no limit to how far Canelo can go,” said Mayweather.

It is undeniable that Canelo is a huge draw and Golden Boy Promotions‘ cash cow. Whether they’re willing to risk their golden goose in a dangerous and high-profile fight versus Golovkin remains to be seen.
