Gennady Golovkin vs. Daniel Jacobs

After a long negotiation process, the most feared man in boxing will finally get a live body standing in front of him on Saturday, March 18, 2017.

Gennady Golovkin–the Middleweight crusher–will take on legitimate Middleweight fighter, Daniel Jacobs live on HBO Pay-Per-View with Golovkin’s WBA, WBC, and IBF titles on the line.

“It’s always a much better promotion as far as working together if we can work things out. That’s always our goal,” said Golovkin’s promoter, Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions (via USA Today).

“Otherwise we could have gone to a purse bid a long time ago.”

Jacobs confirmed the bout via Instagram with a video in his native Brooklyn.

“Coming live from Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn New York. Got some big news,” said Jacobs.

“It’s going down. Me vs. GGG, Madison Square Garden, March 18. It’s finally here. Sorry for the wait. Just had to straighten a couple things out. But it’s finally here. I’m excited. I’m ready to shock the world. BK — let’s do it.”

Many fans are excited to see Golovkin take a on Jacobs because they perceive him as a serious threat to the Kazakh’s reign.

“I think it’s a great fight. Gennady has now clearly established himself as the No. 1 middleweight,” said Loeffler.

“Danny Jacobs has 12 knockouts in a row since his loss to (Dmitry) Pirog. In my opinion, he’s clearly the No. 2 middleweight.”

“Both are big punchers and that’s a fight a lot of people are looking forward to because I think that’s Gennady’s most dangerous opponent,” said Loeffler.

“If everything works out with this fight, then the goal would be Canelo (Alvarez). But the good thing with Gennady’s career right now is all the hard work we put in over the last four or five years is positioning himself for these big fights.”

What are your thoughts on Golovkin vs. Jacobs and who do you favor in this Middleweight clash?
