Well, ladies and gentlemen, World War 3 is coming to a television set near you.

As ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael confirmed via Twitter, WBA, IBO and WBC interim Middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin is set to face IBF champion David Lemieux from the Madison Square Garden on October 17.

The scheduled 12-round unification fight will be presented by HBO PPV, and features two of the hardest-hitting and most exciting fighters in any division.

Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs), 33, is coming off 20 knockout wins, including stoppages against the likes of Martin Murray, Daniel Geale, and Marco Antonio Rubio.

Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs), 26, is coming off an exciting 12-round decision win over Hassan N’Dam–one in which he scored four knockdowns–to win his first world title.

The native of Montreal, Canada was stopped early in his career against Rubio, but wins over Fernando Guerrero, Gabriel Rosado and N’Dam have sent him flying back to the upper echelon of the 160-pound division.

In a fight between two veritable wrecking machines, who takes the win?

Will Golovkin’s experience and power be too much for Lemieux? Or will Lemieux’s speed and youth give the Kazakh champion a run for his money?
