In a battle of two undefeated Junior Middleweight prospects, Jarrett Hurd (17-0, 11 KOs) scores an impressive fifth-round stoppage against Frank Galarza (17-1, 11 KOs) at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The scheduled 10-rounder headlined a ShoBox event that was televised by Showtime in the U.S.

Galarza, 30, confidently took the center of the ring and began pressuring Hurd in Rounds 1 and 2.

However, by Round 3, Hurd noticed that he could confidently and accurately land punches on Galaraza at close range, which just added to his ability to outbox Galarza on the outside.

Hurd, 25, looked much larger than Galarza, and after spending the earler rounds on the ropes with Galarza landing shots, he seemed to realize that he was too strong for Galraza and began landing hard shots.

“I knew he was an experienced, tough fighter, but I stuck to my game plan, listened to my corner and came out victorious,” Hurd said.

“Once I was able to set up my counter shots, I knew I could hurt him.”

In Round 4, Hurd landed a powerful uppercut that immediately dropped Galarza. Hurd didn’t immediately go for the kill, but Galarza was never the same again.

Hurd would land another uppercut followed by a combination that promptly ended the fight in Round 6.

Though unknown to many before tonight, Hurd is on his way to becoming a solid Junior Middleweight contender.
