The scheduled 12-round fight began a three-fight Showtime telecast that featured three world title fights.

Jackson, the son of former Middleweight champion Julian Jackson, got off to a good start as he used his footwork and quick combinations to continually keep Charlo from setting up his feet. Charlo had a lot of trouble cutting off the ring, and he had a very hard time landing hard shots as he was forced to reset often to land hard shots.

In the opening rounds, Charlo seemed as if he wanted to prove to the world that he had power in his hands, but this worked against him as Jackson continued outboxing him going into the middle rounds.

“I was behind. He was boxing, he was moving around a lot. That was unexpected of him. I thought he was going to come out to brawl,” said Charlo, who looked uncomfortable as he pushed forward.

In Round 8, however, Charlo landed a hard shot that seemed to briefly stun Jackson and wobble his legs. Jackson looked to his side and seemed to be adjusting his mouth guard. Charlo took advantage of the situation and hit Jackson with two more shots that put an end to the fight.

“He caught me with a punch and I was trying to fix my mouthpiece. Then he hit me and I was out,” said Jackson.

“It hit me in the eye, but my mouthpiece was coming out. I was trying to push in my mouth piece back in and he hit me. I knew where I was. It dazed me, but I wasn’t knocked out,” said Jackson.

Jackson suffered yet another devastating knockout loss, while Charlo made history by becoming a world champion alongside his brother, Jermall. The two are now the first pair of twin siblings to hold a world title in the same weight,
