22-year-old Joseph “Jo Jo” Diaz (15-0, 10 KOs) is one of the brightest young stars on the Golden Boy Promotions roster and on Saturday night from Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX, Diaz takes a step up in competition as he faces Giovanni Delgado (15-2, 9 KOs) on the undercard of the Canelo Alvarez vs. James Kirkland fight.

Diaz has been active thus far in his young career, appearing numerous times on Golden Boy’s “Golden Boy Live” series, which is televised on Fox Sports 1/Fox Deportes. Diaz fought six times last year, scoring impressive stoppages against Roberto Castaneda and Raul Hidalgo.

Diaz is anxiously awaiting his chance at fighting on the undercard of such a big event this Saturday and feels like it is a prelude of what’s to come.

“I’m just going to constantly bring the fight fans exciting fights. I feel like I can be the next superstar if God allows me too. I’m very excited to be part of this event. I’m very thankful to Golden Boy for giving me this opportunity because this is a stepping stone towards stardom.”

Golden Boy has done a great job so far in bringing Diaz along gradually and putting him on television routinely so that he can build a strong fan base.

Diaz hopes to continue to push forward towards his title aspirations and be in line for a shot by next year.

“I really want a title shot. I feel like I’m well prepared and ready, but patience is the key. Hopefully by the end of next year I’ll be fighting for a title.”
