It’s said that the first time Josue Vargas tried his hand at boxing, he was a natural.

But, there are a lot of “naturals” that make their way in and out of city gyms throughout the world. What separates the good from the great is dedication to the sport and working on their craft.

An up-and-coming amateur boxer who fights out of the Havoc Boxing Club, the 15 year old Vargas is a five-time Jr. Olympic Champion, five-time metro champion, three-time regional champion, national champ and ringside champion.

According to Vargas, he stays in the gym, maintaining his focus and training hard for his next tournament.

Dubbed a “13-year-old boxing prodigy” in 2011 by the NY Daily News, Vargas started boxing at eight years of age and has gained more-and-more notoriety with each win.

“What motivates me to become a champ is my family and thinking ahead to my future and also the inspiration of boxing world champions.”
