Juan Diaz Returns to Solo Boxeo on August 6

The former world titlist will continue his road towards a championship opportunity on the Sat., August 6 ‘Solo Boxeo UniMas’ card that will take place in Tucson, Arizona.

TUCSON, AZ (June 24, 2016) – Here comes the ‘Baby Bull’! Former world champion and proven in-ring warrior, Juan ‘Baby Bull’ Diaz will return to action inside the squared circle on the ‘Solo Boxeo UniMás’ card that will take place on Saturday, August 6, at the Grand Ballroom of the Casino del Sol Resort in the city also known as ‘The Sunshine Factory’.

Diaz (41-4, 20 KO’s), from Houston, Texas, who has been crowned in multiple occasions as lightweight king, hopes to continue his steady pace towards the opportunity to fight for a world title once again when he battles against Mexico’s’Cesar Vazquez (27-3, 16 KO’s) – a former world title challenger – in a ten-round bout on the main event of the card that will be televised from coast to coast in the United States by UniMás.

“I have been itching to get back into the ring. I am very happy and excited to be part of another Top Rank event. After my last fight in Houston, I felt great and I am looking forward to the next bout scheduled in Tucson at the Casino Del Sol and to be with Arizona boxing fans. With a win in Tucson I am one step closer to the ultimate goal which is obtaining a fifth world title,” said Diaz.

Regarding his August 6 opponent, the ‘Baby Bull’ added: “He (Vazquez) has previously challenged for a world title, I am respectful of that, he is a tough professional and he will also be ready for the bout. This will be a fan friendly and interesting fight”.

In the fight that will start the UniMás broadcast, unbeaten Phoenix contender, Trevor McCumby (22-0, 17 KO’s) will risk his undefeated record against Puerto Rico’sManny Siaca (25-8, 20 KO’s) in an eight-round bout on the Light Heavyweight division.

Diaz vs. Vazquez / McCumby vs. Siaca will be televised on August 6 at 11 p.m. ET/PT on ‘Solo Boxeo UniMás’.

Also, 2012 Olympic gold medalist and undefeated Russian prospect, Egor Mekhontsev (11-0, 7 KO’s), will also see action on the August 6 card. Mekhontsev will face Alexander Johnson (16-4, 7 KO’s) in an 8-round light heavyweight rumble.
