In the main event on Premier Boxing Champions‘ Toe-To-Toe Tuesday’s on FS1 on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, Junior Lightweight prospect Leduan Barthelemy (13-0, 7 KOs) stopped a very live Reynaldo Blanco in the ninth round (14-4, 8 KOs).

Barthelemy, a familiar name in the Cuban boxing tree, faced some adversity, as Blanco came to show in a once in a lifetime opportunity being on a main event card, that he wasn’t going to just lie down. As a matter of fact, it was Blanco’s first fight at 130 pounds, having fought usually at 135 or 140 pounds.

Barthelemy, wanting to showcase his reach and height early, came to box as not much action unfolded in the early rounds. But, give Blanco credit when he was tagged by shots, he kept coming forward.

In the fourth as Blanco was trying get inside on Barthelemy, he timed a perfect counter right hook that shook Barthelemy and Blanco tried to seize his time to pounce. Barthelemy actually ended up throwing one of his better one-two combination’s of the evening to end the fourth that rocked Blanco and showed maybe the counter shot woke up the Cuban fighter.

As the fight was turning, Barthelemy continued sticking his jab in many ways at Blanco, frustrating the fighter from the Dominican Republic. Barthelemy came into his own showing smarts and started taking over from the seventh round on.

Blanco, who was cut over his right eye in the sixth, was seemingly wearing down.

With Blanco now fighting without much of the machismo he showed earlier on, Barthelemy sensed that and got to work with a flush overhand right that had Blanco back peddling instantly.

Another straight right hand followed and sent Blanco down, but referee Edward Collantes ruled that Barthelemy had stepped on Blanco’s foot. In the corner after Round 8, Blanco’s trainers were warning Blanco that if he didn’t show anything in the following round, they were going to stop it.

As so much of the fight in the second half, Barthelemy pounced on Blanco with combinations that sent Blanco to the canvas again. Shortly after getting up to much of Blanco’s team’s demise, they threw in the towel and Leduan Barthelemy got his TKO victory.
