LUCAS “LA MAQUINA” MATTHYSSE, Former Interim WBC Super Lightweight World Champion and Number Two Contender for the Vacant WBC Super Lightweight Title:

“I feel very good, we have been doing a lot of sparring against fighters who are taller and bigger to make sure we are prepared. I think this is important, I want to make sure I am comfortable in the ring against [Viktor] Postol come Oct. 3.

“This is a great opportunity for me. I want to win the title. Winning the title will elevate me to a different level in my career. It will give me a different name and another status in the boxing community.

“This is the opportunity to continue fighting the best and the bigger names in the division.”

OSCAR DE LA HOYA, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions:

“The fight against Postol will obviously be complicated, but I know Lucas is preparing very well and he has a great team around him making sure he has good sparring partners.

“I’ve always loved Argentina. The first time I came, it was in 1996, and I left very impressed. I am now working with Lucas and have visited twice this year and that makes me very happy. I really admire this country and have a lot of respect for Lucas and look forward to coming back to celebrate ‘The Machine’ and his world title victory.”

MARIO ARANO, Manager to Lucas Matthysse:

“This is the opportunity that we have been waiting for, we have to thank all who made this fight possible.

“Lucas is well prepared and will end the fight early. I consider Lucas a superior fighter.”

LUIS “CUTY” BARRERA, Trainer to Lucas Matthysse:

“I believe the fight will go the distance and we have made sure that Lucas is prepared.

“We will be victorious on Oct 3. Lucas is ready for this fight and will show everyone what he is capable of as a fighter.”

“Matthysse will give a great fight. As a fighter he surprises me everyday and I am proud to be part of this team.

“Training in Junie is the best place for Lucas. I believe we have shown that in the ring in his last two fights and we will do so again on Oct. 3. You do not need to leave the country, to be champion.”
