Oscar Valdez Osawa - Mikey Williams

Top prospect and fan favorite, Oscar Valdez (21-0, 19 KOs) put in some serious work tonight in Las Vegas on the co-featured bout for the Manny Pacquiao vs. Jessie Vargas card.

The WBO featherweight champion took on Hiroshige Osawa (30-4, 19 KOs) of Japan and gave even the most casual of fans, an easy fight to score by putting on a boxing clinic.

Valdez wasted no time and immediately pressed the action in the opening round by throwing monster hooks to the body and head of Osawa.

With cheers from the crowd backing the young Mexican champion, it wasn’t long before he was able to drop his opponent and in the fourth, the punch that did the trick was a powerful left hook.

Osawa, a solid and experienced opponent was clearly over matched and never found himself in the bout.

Three rounds later, Valdez would close the show after landing a barrage of blows and cornering Osawa on the ropes. At this point, referee Vic Drakulich had seen enough and put an end to the contest.

With his first title defense in the books, Valdez continues to impress fans and boxing experts across the world.

A combination of speed and devastating power has made Valdez a force in the featherweight division and someone to definitely keep on your radar.
