On Friday, August 12, 2016, Josue Vargas (6-0, 4 KOs) took a step up in competition against Ira Terry (26-15, 16 KOs) in a Junior welterweight bout.
The bout was part of the non-televised portion of the Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN fight card, which featured Miguel Flores taking on Ryan Kielczweski in the main event.
Vargas, who was named a “boxing prodigy” at the age of 13 and is signed to Floyd Mayweather‘s Mayweather Promotions, scored a first-round stoppage over the veteran Terry.
