Tuesday, December 30, 2014, Jorge Linares (38-3, 25 KOs) of Venezuela defeated Mexico’s Javier Prieto (24-8-2, 18 KOs), by fourth-round knockout to win the vacant WBO world lighweight title.

Linares becomes the youngest Venezuelan to win world titles in three divisions.

Also at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan, Pedro Guevara (24-1-1, 16 KOS) of Mexico defeated former world champion, Akira Yaegashi (20-5, 10 KOs), by seventh-round knockout.
