On Saturday, November 26, 2016, Terry Flanagan (31-0, 12 KOs) will return to the ring against Orlando Cruz (25-4-1, 13 KOs) to defend his WBO Lightweight title at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom.
The scheduled 12-round fight will be televised on beIN Sports Español in the U.S. The main event was initially going to be Billy Joe Saunders’ first defense of his WBO title, but it was moved to next Saturday in Scotland.
Flanagan, 27, will seek to make his fourth defense of the title after winning the WBO strap against Jose Zepeda in 2015. The UK native has also scored wins against the likes of Diego Magdaleno and Derry Matthews.
Cruz, 35, is a native of Puerto Rico who looks to be the first openly gay fighter to win a world title. However, after losses to Orlando Salido and to Daniel Ponce De Leon at Featherweight, it is unlikely that Cruz will be successful at Lightweight, almost ten pounds above Featherweight.
