On Saturday, July 12, 2014, Golden Boy Promotions and Canelo Promotions presents “Honor & Glory: Canelo vs. Lara,” a 12-round junior middleweight clash between Canelo Alvarez and Erislandy Lara.

The bout–which will air live on Showtime pay-per-view starting at 9:00 pm, EST–takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Lara basically insulted his way into a bout with the Mexican star, using any platform he could to call Canelo out. Alas, Canelo agreed to face the slick-boxing Cuban and come Saturday night we will finally get to see both men put it all on the line.

The fight card also features Abner Mares, who returns for the first time since being brutally knocked out by Jhonny Gonzalez. Mares takes on Puerto Rico’s Jonathan Oquendo in a 10-round featherweight bout.

Also featured on the card will be fan-favorite slugger, Juan Manuel Lopez taking on Francisco Vargas of Mexico in a 10-round bout for the WBO International Super Featherweight Title.

In the opening bout of the pay-per-view event, Johan Perez defends his interim WBA Junior Welterweight World Title against Mauricio Herrera in a 12-round matchup.
