Jarrett Hurd vs. Carlos Molina

The circumstances of this co-feature are unfortunate; Jarrett Hurd and Oscar Molina were initially set to fight on the undercard before Abner Mares failed his physical, scrapping his fight with Jesus Cuellar.

Nevertheless, Hurd has been presented with (what should be) a showcase fight on CBS. Molina has been matched lightly throughout his 14-fight career; most recently fighting to a draw against Domonique Dolton in September 2015.

I’m picking Hurd for a TKO in the early going.

It’s a battle of undefeated prospects, but Jarrett Hurd is coming off of two wins against previously undefeated opponents.

He’s more used to higher levels of competition than Oscar Molina and he’ll probably get the stoppage late.

This should be an entertaining scrap between two undefeated middleweight prospects. Both fighters have shown good punching power relative to the quality of their opposition thus far as they build their careers.

Oscar Molina struggled to a draw in his last bout with his slightly more experienced foe though Jarrett Hurd has had a couple of close calls along the way as well.

There are a lot of unknowns in this matchup, but we will see Hurd survive a couple of shaky moments to force a stoppage in the mid rounds.

I just remember that Susan Sarandon showed up to support Frank Galarza when he fought Jarret Hurd last year. Susan was shocked like the rest of us when Galarza was dropped and stopped with a minute to go in the sixth.

That was the third knockout in a row for Hurd in his ongoing streak. I expect that streak to continue against the shorter, hard punching, and fellow undefeated prospect Oscar Molina.

Prediction: Hurd

The fight between undefeated junior middleweight prospects Jarrett Hurd (17-0, 11 KOs) and Oscar Molina (13-0, 10 KOs) has been elevated to the co-feature on the undercard of Keith Thurman vs. Shawn Porter after the Jesus Cuellar vs. Abner Mares fight was cancelled.

There is a lot on the line for Hurd and Molina on Saturday night. Both fighters are looking to maintain their undefeated record while showcasing their skills to prove that they have what it takes to dominate in the junior middleweight division.

I am expecting this to be an extremely entertaining and competitive fight. With Hurd’s momentum coming off an impressive victory over undefeated Frank Galarza, I think Hurd has what it takes to maintain his blemish-free record Saturday night against Molina.

Prediction: Hurd

Jarrett Hurd is a force to be reckoned with. I’ve had the pleasure of watching him numerous times and can confidently say that he is one of the best prospects in boxing.

He’s got a good opponent in front of him in former Olympian, Oscar Molina, but I think Hurd’s athleticism and power will be too much for Molina.

Though it’ll be interesting to see how Hurd looks after a long layoff and injury to his hand, I think the Accokeek, MD product wins via mid-rounds stoppage on his way up to contender status.

Prediction: Hurd
