The World Boxing Council says it will proactively help in the ongoing process to realize the long awaited and eagerly anticipated mega fight between WBC welterweight and also super welterweight Champion Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

In the Mandatory Defences Committee meeting, at the World Boxing Council’s 52nd convention at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman praised Floyd for his brilliant fifteen years as a Champion, winning green and gold belts in five categories. And becoming the best pound for pound fighter in the World.

Floyd and Jose Sulaiman were due to meet to discuss the situation about his two Championships tenure. But this wasn’t possible because of Don Jose’s surgery and sad passing.

Now Floyd is saying that he wants the fight with Manny to happen and Mauricio said: “we have to see the way how we can participate. We have been public about this. We have produced no obstacles.”

Mauricio requested that the WBC Board of Governors continue on this positive path, and they unanimously agreed.”

And in another encouraging and innovative step forward, it was unanimously agreed to reinvigorate the WBC World Cup- a dream and visionary concept of Don Jose, to develop, highlight and reward emerging talent, via a global boxing tournament- the very first of its kind.
