Yordenis Ugas Dominates and Stops Bryant Perrella in 4

In case the world wasn’t convinced with his victory over formerly unbeaten prospect, Jamal James in August of this year, Yordenis Ugas came out to show the boxing world that he is a force to be reckoned with at 147 pounds.

Yordenis Ugas (17-3, 8 KOs) is not finished.

In case the world wasn’t convinced with his victory over formerly unbeaten prospect, Jamal James in August of this year, Ugas came out to show the boxing world that he is a force to be reckoned with at 147 pounds.

On the Tuesday, September 27, 2016 edition of Premier Boxing Champions on FS1, Ugas dominated Bryant Perrella (14-1, 13 KOs) and stopped him via TKO in Round 4 from the Buffalo Thunder Casino, in Pojoaque, New Mexico.

Ugas dedicated the fight to his friend and fellow Cuban, Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez, who tragically passed away this past Sunday morning in Miami.

“The right hand was there early and all night long,” said Ugas. “I was able to land it from the beginning. Then I went to the body. Before I left my corner to start the fight, I said a prayer for Jose, and for sure that was my motivation. I felt his spirit throughout the fight.”

Perrella was slated to take on Ugas back in August, but was injured, which is why James stepped in and subsequently took the L.

But as soon as that result was finalized, Perrella took to Twitter to let the world know that he still wanted a piece of the upset minded Cuban.

You know the old saying–be careful what you wish for.

Perrella looked slow and completely outclassed by Ugas, who is now poised for bigger fights after knocking off two undefeated prospects in less than two months.

Ugas dropped Perrella in the first round–the first knockdown of Perrell’s professional career–and continued to stalk Perrella until he knockdown him down again in the fourth.

Perrella got up, but only to allow Ugas to land a number of clean shots until the referee stopped the bout at 2:20 of Round 4.

Ugas put on a strong performance, but not everyone was sold, including promoter Lou DiBella.

DiBella is referring to undefeated prospect, Ivan Golub who just defeated James Stevenson on ShoBox this past Friday night. A scrap between Ugas and Golub would be interesting and one we’d love to see.

Regardless of if Golub is next, get Ugas back on television ASAP. He’s an exciting Cuban boxer, ready to let his hands go.
