Yordenis Ugas Runs Over Nelson Lara in 2

Yordenis Ugas (19-3, 9 KOs) dismantled Nelson Lara (17-8, 7 KOs) with a second-round stoppage via TKO in the main event of the Tuesday, April 25 edition of PBC’s Toe-to-Toe Tuesday’s live from Fitzgerald’s Casino & Hotel in Tunica, Mississippi on FS1.

Ugas, now looking like a real contender in the deep Welterweight division, wasted no time taking out his overmatched opponent on Tuesday night.

You almost got the sense Ugas knew this was his time to shine on national television. He came from the opening bell and went right at Lara with vicious combinations to the body that had Lara backing up instantly.

“I wanted to attack the body and make this a short night. I’m happy I was able to give the fans a knockout,” said Ugas.

Wearing the number 54 on his trunks, for his best friend Aroldis Chapman of the New York Yankees, Ugas was throwing heat to say the least–landing an uppercut that had Lara shaking his head as he was gesturing he felt that one.

Ugas came out for the second, again wasting no time in attacking Lara to the body. Back-to-back big overhand rights to Lara’s head stunned the Nicaraguan, followed by a short uppercut and another right hand that sent Lara to the canvas 43 seconds into Round 2.

Lara was able to beat the count, but referee Billy Clancy observed a cut right by Lara’s left eye and decided that was enough to call it.

“I want any of the world class fighters in the welterweight division,” said Ugas. “I’m ready to fight anyone and prove that I’m as good as any fighter out there.”
