On Saturday, November 28, 2015, Adonis Stevenson (27-1, 22 KOs) spoke to Showtime’s Brian Custer during the James DeGale vs. Lucian Bute telecast.

The lead in topic was a possible fight with Eleider Alvarez who defeated Isaac Chilemba in a WBC Light Heavyweight eliminator bout.

Stevenson quickly dismissed talks of a possible fight with Alvarez, saying that because the WBC continues to rank Sergey Kovalev (28-0-1, 25 KOs) as the No. 1 contender that his team is exploring a fight with the Krusher.

Before his sit down with Custer, Stevenson posted a video on his Twitter account of a face-to-face encounter he and Kovalev had.

Not much can be taken from that blurry video other than Stevenson bouncing around repeatedly saying, “June, June.”

In his interview with Custer, Stevenson mentioned that the reason that the fight hasn’t happened up to this point is that Kovalev is scared of him.

“I know he’s scared. I talked to him and I saw in his eyes, he’s scared. It will happen, but I know Kovalev is scared,” said Stevenson.

Many fans hoped that 2015 would finally be the year that Stevenson and Kovalev got together to unify the Light Heavyweight division, but as the 2015 comes to an end, we don’t seem to be any closer to a Superman vs. Krusher bout than we were last year at this point.

Kovalev is already locked in to face Jean Pascal on January 30, 2016 in a rematch of their competitive bout from March of 2015 while Stevenson has no future bout scheduled.

It would seem inconceivable for Stevenson to jump into a June clash with Kovalev without at least a tune up fight in the early part of 2016.

If this fight happens in June of 2016, who would win? Let us know in the comment section below.
