Amanda Serrano

Heather Hardy vs. Amanda Serrano Fight Preview

Ed Mulholland/Matchroom Boxing

Seven-division world champion Amanda Serrano (36-1-1, 27 KOs) faces off against WBO Featherweight champion Heather Hardy (22-0, 4 KOs) as the co-main event on Friday September 13, 2019 at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York.

Presented by Matchroom Boxing, the fights will be streamed live on DAZN with the fight card starting at 7 pm ET.

This co-main event is a super-fight in women’s boxing, with two of the most decorated boxers, and both seemingly on all women’s top ten pound-for-pound lists.

Serrano is the only woman to have won titles in seven, yes seven, different divisions. A remarkable feat in boxing, and only comparable to the likes of eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs). Serrano’s titles have come at the following weight classes: 115, 118, 122, 126, 130, 135 and 140.

Serrano takes great pride in her roots from the island of Puerto Rico. She represents the island to the fullest, and is one of only seven Puerto Rican boxers to win world titles in at least three divisions.

The list includes hall of fame boxers Wilfredo Benetiz, Wilfredo Gomez, Hector Camacho, Felix Trinidad, Wilfredo Gomez, and soon to be hall of famer Miguel Cotto.

This will be Hardy’s first defense of her WBO Featherweight title that she obtained in October of 2018 by defeating Shelly Vincent (26-2, 1 KOs). There is no doubt that this fight will be Hardy’s toughest scrap to date, and will bring out the champion in her.

Heather Hardy

Both women have left the sport of boxing at one time or another to venture into the world of MMA. Unfortunately, women’s boxing doesn’t pay their stars as well as the men, and this is the outcome of that.

But both fighters are back in the boxing ring on Friday night. This mega-fight streamed on DAZN is great exposure for the sport and all women fighters. Don’t miss the must-watch fight.

Amanda Serrano is the clear betting favorite sitting at -1800, while Heather Hardy is a +850 to pull off the upset.

The winner of this fight will cement their name in women’s boxing history and look to face top pound-for-pound fighter, Katie Taylor in the near future.
