On Friday, January 13, 2017, Anthony Dirrell (30-1-1, 24 KOs) scored a sixth-round TKO victory against Norbert Nemesapati (24-5, 17 KOs) at the Hialeah Park Racing & Casino in Hialeah, Florida.
The scheduled 10-round Super Middleweight fight was the first televised fight of a three-fight telecast on Spike TV in the U.S. that was headlined by the Junior Middleweight title fight between Erislandy Lara and Yuri Foreman.
Dirrell landed nearly every punch at will tonight en route to an easy stoppage victory.
Dirrell is a 32-year-old native of Flint, Michigan. After making his debut in 2005, Dirrell spent the following years building his career as a Super Middleweight prospect and contender.
In December of 2013, Dirrell got his first shot at a title, but fought to a split draw against Sakio Bika. The two fought again the following August, and Dirrell became the WBC title holder that night.
However, his title run was short lived as he lost to Badou Jack in April of 2015, losing the WBC strap in his first defense.
Nemesapati is a 21-year-old native of Hungary who had fought a long list of tomato cans before taking his first two losses in 2016, one to Callum Smith and another to Umar Salamov.
After his two losses, Nemesapati won three straight victories before ending 2016. Tonight, to no one’s surprise, Nemesapati ended his win streak very early.
Indeed, from the very first round, Dirrell looked stronger and bigger, and he wasted no time unleashing wide, hard shots after his powerful jabs.
Dirrell then spent the next few rounds easily walking Nemesapati down with a high guard, occasionally taking a punch or two to land hard right uppercuts and left hooks.
After Round 6 Nemesapati’s corner stopped the fight after seeing that Nemesapati was taking too much punishment and that there was no way he would be winning this fight.
