According to RingTV.com, Bernard Hopkins will face Beibut Shumenov in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, April 19, 2014.
The fight will be shown live on Showtime Championship Boxing and will be held at the D.C. Armory, the same venue which hosted Lamont Peterson and Dierry Jean earlier this year.
Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer confirmed to RingTV.com that the fight is a done deal, with Hopkins’ IBF title and Shumenov’s WBA title on the line.
Schaefer had the following to say regarding Hopkins’ continued record-breaking career:
It’s absolutely amazing that the age of 49, to see Bernard keep pushing himself to yet other new challenges and to continue to make history. I think to have a historic achievement, and to do that in Washington, D.C., adds to the significance of this event.
The undercard has yet to be announced.
