42-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez wants to step in the ring two more times before he officially hangs up the gloves. Once in May and lastly in September, and at least one of the fights being in Mexico City.
Marquez’s ultimate dream would be to win a world title in the welterweight division, making him the first Mexican fighter to win five world titles in different weight classes. If the welterweight title isn’t an option, it’s very likely he won’t return to the ring at all, he says
Marquez has reached an offer from Miguel Cotto’s team, and an ESPN representative says the fighters will talk more this week.
“I don’t want to rush anything, but I have to say goodbye to boxing after 30 years of being an amateur and a professional,” said Marquez.
