Unbeaten prospect Julian Sosa (12-0-1, 4 KOs) defeated Larry Ventus (9-12-1, 4 KOs) by a narrow majority decision on the Daniel Jacobs-Muciej Sulecki undercard at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The official scores at ringside were 57-57 and 58-56 twice.

Making his fifth appearance at Barclays Center, the 22-year-old Sosa brought an impressive crowd from the Sunset Park neighborhood where he was born and raised to help propel him to a hard-fought victory.

Ventus opened a cut over Sosa’s right eye in the third round after outworking the much younger fighter much to the chagrin of the 400 plus fans wearing Team Sosa shirts.

Sosa rallied back in the fourth and fifth rounds to gain control of the bout and show the judges that he was the busier fighter.

Fearing he needed the final round to cement the victory Sosa threw more combinations and moved side to side instead of backwards, which was what happened in the early rounds.
