Roy Jones Jr. WBA #2 Contender Bryan “Tiquito” Vasquez Returns

Las Vegas, February 16,2017 – Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions Founder 10x World Champion, Roy Jones Jr. and CEO / Co-Founder, Keith Veltre proudly announce their first show in California at the Marriott Burbank Convention Center on Saturday, April 15th.

Headlining will be the WBA #1 Super-Featherweight Contender Bryan “Tiquito” Vasquez (35-2) from San Jose, Costa Rica.

Vasquez who is the former two-time WBA “Interim” Super-Featherweight Champion and who has defeated the likes of Jose Felix (35-1) and Sergio Thompson (30-5), most recently Vasquez lost a close UD12 to former WBA World Champion Javier Fortuna (31-1) back on May 29, 2015 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Vasquez is looking to stay active as he prepares for a showdown with current WBA “Super” Champion Jezreel Corrales (21-1) from San Miguelito, Panama later this year. Corrales is coming off two very impressive wins over Takashi Uchiyama (24-2) who was reigning WBA World Super-Featherweight Champion for over five years. Corrales scored an “Upset of the Year” KO victory over Uchiyama back on April 27, 2016 and then followed it up just eight months later and scored a razor thin SD12 over Uchiyama.

“We are very excited to get Bryan into the ring and watch him make his debut under the Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions banner,” stated Guy Taylor, RJJ Matchmaker. “We tried setting up a match between Vasquez and former WBA “World” Champion Jason Sosa (20-1) but that fell apart once Sosa was considered as an opponent for Vasyl Lomanchencko. With Sosa now vacating his position, I think it’s only fair that Vasquez, who is #1 by the WBA becomes the next in line to challenge WBA “Super” Champion Jezreel Corrales.”

“Bryan Vasquez has earned his place with the WBA,” said Keith Veltre Co-Founder & CEO of Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions. “Bryan is a top tier fighter and when he steps in that ring on April 15, there will be no denying as to why he is ranked #1 by the WBA.”

“WBA deserves to be represented by the best” stated Bryan Vasquez, “Jezreel Corrals step into the ring with me, you have something that belongs to me!”

Vasquez is ranked #1 Contender in the world by the WBA and has no intention of moving from that spot.

No opponent has been officially names for Vasquez on April 15th, but one should be finalized and announced later this week.
