On February 27, Chinese Heavyweight Taishan Dong will fight for the third time as a professional boxer on a Golden Boy Promotions card at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.
Taishan’s fight will be the first televised bout on Fox Sports 1.
Buddy McGirt, who is Taishan’s trainer, is a former world champion at Light Welterweight and Welterweight and praised Taishan’s willingness to learn in a recent interview with RBRBoxing.com
“He’s young and he’s willing to learn. That’s what I like about him–his work ethic,” said McGirt, who has trained the likes of Antonio Tarver, Ricky Hatton and Arturo Gatti.
McGirt also said that he needs to teach Taishan to stay relaxed and that he’ll need to repeat himself over and over again for it to stick.
