Canelo Facing $9 Million Dollar Lawsuit Over Mexican Street Brawl

Per TMZ, the newly crowned WBC and lineal Middleweight champion of the world, Canelo Alvarez, is facing a $9 million dollar lawsuit over a Mexican street fight that happened back in 2011.

The man behind the lawsuit is former IBF Light Flyweight champion, Ulises Solis. According to TMZ’s report, Solis claims Canelo beat him up during an altercation in Guadalajara.

Solis says that Canelo knocked a tooth out and fractured his jaw, causing him to be stripped of the IBF title because he couldn’t defend it.

Meanwhile, Canelo is in discussions to face a man his own size inside the ring–Kazakh heavy-hitter, Gennady Golovkin.

According to ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael, a resolution could be made to allow interim fights for both men before they meet in September of 2016 on Mexican Independence Day weekend.
