Carl Frampton Returns Home Against Andres Gutierrez On July 29

The Former WBA Featherweight world titlist, Carl Frampton (23-1, 14 KOs) is set to return against Mexican journeyman Andres Gutierrez (35-1-1, 25 KOs) in a WBC World Featherweight title eliminator.

The Jackal is coming home.

The Former WBA Featherweight world titlist, Carl Frampton (23-1, 14 KOs) is set to return against Mexican journeyman Andres Gutierrez (35-1-1, 25 KOs) in a WBC World Featherweight title eliminator.

The bout will take place at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena on July 29.

Frampton, is coming off his first career defeat as a professional while losing his WBA featherweight strap in a majority decision loss to Leo Santa Cruz in their highly waited for rematch last January in Las Vegas. Frampton, was hoping to get a third fight with Santa Cruz that would take place in Belfast, but Santa Cruz’s team was weary of traveling to the U.K.

Gutierrez, is looking to play the role of spoiler of any chance at a third date between Frampton and Santa Cruz. The 23 year-old out of Queretaro, Mexico, nicknamed “Jaguarcito” will be fighting only his third fight out of his homeland, The other two being in the United States. His opposition hasn’t been the highest so far. The Jackal awaits.
