Daniel Jacobs (34-2, 29 KOs) and Sergiy Derevyanchenko (12-0, 10 KOs) will be fighting for the vacant IBF Middleweight title in New York with a date TBA.

Promoters Eddie Hearn, and Lou DiBella agreed to terms today, Tuesday July 10th, and made an announcement via twitter for the boxing world.

The fight is scheduled to air on HBO Boxing, assuming it will be in the hometown of Daniel Jacobs of Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center.

The belt was stripped from Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs) in June for failing to come to an agreement to fight his IBF mandatory, Sergiy Derevyanchenko.

Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko is the best possible matchup for the IBF belt.

This is not a normal bout, as the two fighters share the same trainer in Andre Rozier. There is no bad blood between the two fighters. However, they are in each others way of becoming a world champion.

This is an intriguing matchup to see how their styles will clash.  Both fighters can outbox opponents, or stand brawl.

Jacobs look to become a world champion and still wants to avenge his loss to GGG. This can lead to just that by securing the IBF belt he can pick his next opponent should he win.

Derevyanchenko makes an enormous step up in competition with this fight. This will be the biggest fight in his young professional career.

A fresh champion in the Middleweight division is a good thing. This can lead to a variety of different fights as the top five in the division are all looking for a title fight.

HBO boxing has been fairly quite this summer, but this is a win for the fans and HBO.
