Oscar De La Hoya is dropping bars again–this time in an interview with RBRBoxing‘s favorite RingTV.com writer, Vlad Lik.

In the in recent interview, De La Hoya spoke to Lik about many things, including the upcoming Cinco de Mayo clash between Canelo and Daniel Jacobs.

But these days you can’t mention Canelo without at least asking about Gennady Golovkin–especially after Golovkin’s huge deal with DAZN which has seemingly inched him even closer to a third bout with Canelo.

But if you ask De La Hoya, GGG has to bring something to the table–like another belt.

“If Canelo wins on May 4, he will hold all the titles except for one,” said De La Hoya. “Canelo wants to be the unified champion of the world, which means he has all the belts, so, if Golovkin can win the last belt, imagine how much meaning a fight trilogy between Canelo and Golovkin will have. My thing is, ‘Hey, Golovkin, go win another title and earn your spot again and then we we’ll talk.’”

Many people have taken exception to this “he must earn it” comment by De La Hoya, with Instagram comments flowing in by the minute on Round By Round Boxing‘s page.

What are your thoughts? Does GGG need to defeat Demetrius Andrade (the WBO Middleweight titleholder) to make a third Canelo fight happen?
