Devin Haney (21-0, 13 KOs) cruised his way to a unanimous decision victory Friday night on Showtime over previously undefeated Xolisani Ndongeni (25-1, 13 KOs).

Haney blasted his opponent by connecting on 40 percent of his total punches. His percentage jumps up to 47 when taking a look at his power punche connect rate.

The numbers seem almost unreal. Haney landed whenever and wherever he wanted. On the offensive side Haney did what he wanted all night as Ndongeni simply had no response.

In the second round Haney managed to drop his man.

To Ndongeni’s credit he managed to get to his feet and continue to fight. Haney had his man also visibly hurt in both the eighth and 10th round, but just could not get the stoppage.

It was a display of incredible hand speed, punching power and timing. Defensively he was equally impressive as well as he doubled Ndongeni’s connect rate and outworked him. It was an eye opening performance by Haney.

Being a young and undefeated prospect is something that angers Haney. He feels as though that is not the proper way to describe him. Calling him a young, undefeated contender on the other hand will place a smile across his face.

Haney has been clamoring for his shot at a title for quite some time now. He believes that a performance like this will lead him to that goal in 2019.

“I want those top fights, now they really can’t deny me,” said Haney during his post fight in ring interview. “I’m a fucking contender.”

Haney isn’t short on confidence. He is proving to everyone right that pegged him as not only a future star but also a future champion.

That future for Haney seems as though it is quickly approaching.
