According to Canelo Alvarez‘s manager and head trainer, Eddy Reynoso, Canelo Alvarez has parted ways with Golden Boy and is now a free agent.

Also, according to ESPN Deportes’ Salvador Rodriguez, Canelo and his team are said to be lining up a matchup against IBF 168-pound champion, Caleb Plant for December 19.

Obviously, without a lead promoter, Canelo has the option to face so many more top-notch opponents than when he was with Golden Boy. If Plant ends up being Canelo’s first post-Golden Boy opponent, that will certainly make fight fans happy.

Canelo has the chance to compete from 160 pounds to 175 pounds, so the options for high-end opponents are nearly endless.
