Eric Hunter Blasts Antonio Escalante in 1 Round on Golden Boy Live

On the Friday, May 22 edition of Golden Boy Promotions‘ Golden Boy Live, Eric Hunter (21-3, 11 KOs) emphatically dispensed of former contender, Antonio Escalante (29-8, 20 KOs) in one round.

On the Friday, May 22 edition of Golden Boy Promotions‘ Golden Boy Live, Eric Hunter (21-3, 11 KOs) emphatically dispensed of former contender, Antonio Escalante (29-8, 20 KOs) in one round.

Hunter had his way for the duration of the bout, landing with speed, accuracy and precision as Escalante could never get into a rhythm and never even landed a single punch of note.

Hunter scored three knockdowns, the last of which shook Escalante to the core and forced the referee to jump in and stop the fight.

Escalante’s best days are certainly behind him, while the Philadelphia native, Hunter looks to capture a world title in the near future.

In other televised action, Antonio Gutierrez (18-1-1, 8 KOs) took on Paul Valenzuela Jr. (7-1-1, 5 KOs) in a six-round rematch.

The two Middleweight fighters threw a tremendous amount of punches early on, providing good action for the crowd.

But, by Round 3, the pace slowed down and each man was sucking air, looking to pick their spots.

The bout went to the scorecards and in a minor upset, Valenzuela Jr. took the fight by majority decision.

Abraham Lopez (18-0-1, 13 KOs) faced off against Alfred Tetteh (23-4-1, 20 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round bout.

Lopez was back in the ring for the second time since taking a three year layoff. Lopez controlled action early, but late in the third round, Tetteh landed a series of good left hooks, catching the attention of Lopez who backed up to the ropes.

Lopez came back and stopped Tetteh with a vicious hook in Round 5.

In the opening bout, Heavyweight giant, Taishan (5-0, 3 KOs) faced an out-of-shape opponent in Lance Gauch (5-9-2, 3 KOs).

Gauch was knocked out in the first round and hit the canvas hard on his way down, causing concern from spectators.

Gauch was carried out on a stretcher and taken to the hospital to be evaluated after the knockout. Fox Sports 1’s ringside reporter Jessica Rosales spoke with the ringside doctor who stated that Gauch had a concussion without a doubt and that they would evaluate him closely.
