Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will not fight Miguel Cotto on May 2 and is seeking another opponent, according to a tweet by RingTv.com.
For the past few months, Alvarez had been seeking a fight with the lineal Middleweight champion, but after several concessions and deadlines were given, the deal was not accepted by Cotto’s team.
Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Alvarez's promoter, said Miguel Cotto refused an offer extended by Alvarez. Alvarez is seeking another opponent.

Alvarez, 24, of Mexico, has not fought since his split decision win over Erislandy Lara in July, while Cotto, 34, of Puerto Rico, has not fought since upsetting Sergio Martinez in June to win the Middleweight crown.
The fight was going to be one of the most excited and lucrative fights of 2015, but it seems as if the risk might be too high for Cotto to accept.
Alvarez has other opponents to choose from including James Kirkland, while Cotto has nearly everyone in the Middleweight division calling him out, including Gennady Golovkin and Peter Quillin.
