According to Dan Rafael of ESPN.com, Floyd Mayweather has swiftly dropped Golden Boy Promotions now that Richard Schaefer is no longer CEO.

Both Leonard Ellerbe and Mayweather himself heaped praise upon their “friend” Schafer in the wake of the press release by the now ex-CEO of Oscar De La Hoya‘s company.

Ellerbe was asked whether or not Mayweather would continue to work with Golden Boy now that Schaefer was out of the picture to which he answered, “Absolutely not.”

Once Schaefer’s press release hit the media, fans were quick to celebrate on Twitter what they thought would be the beginning of the end of boxing’s Cold War, but now it looks like we could be headed toward another, messier war which includes Mayweather Promotions, Al Haymon and possibly even Schaefer if he decides to continue working in boxing.

Oscar De La Hoya has not released a statement as of yet.
