“It’s great to be here and very nice to meet all my fans in China.” said Golovkin. “And always nice to see President Mauricio Sulaiman and the whole WBC family from around the world.”
Accompanying Golovkin is his promoter, Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions. “As an amateur Gennady competed in China three times but this is his first visit as a professional world champion.”
“With Gennady’s fights being telecast in China and the terrific reception from the fans here it’s clear how much of an International star he is.”
On Sunday, Golovkin attended a press conference that was hosted by the President of the Chinese Boxing Federation, Liu Tao. Among the former and current WBC champions joining Golokvin on the dais were Evander Holyfield, Larry Holmes, Badou Jack, Leo Santa Cruz and renowned trainer Eddie Mustafa Muhammad along with Sulaiman.
