Saturday, February 21, 2015,  Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28 KOs) scored an 11th-round stoppage over  Martin Murray (29-1-1, 12 KOs) to successfully defend his WBA, IBO and interim WBC titles at the at the Salle des Étoiles in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Golovkin came into the bout riding an impressive 18-fight knockout streak. No opponent had gone the distance with the heavy-hitting Kazakh since November 2008 when the unknown Amar Amari went all eight rounds.

The St Helen’s native, Murray is best known to fans in the States for his questionable loss against Sergio Martinez in Argentina back in 2013.

Murray entered the ring on February 21 fearless, looking to end the reign of the “Good Boy Killer,” and to finally capture a world title.
