7-day weigh ins  are also monitored with a 5 percent limit.

Gennady Golovkin and  Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KO’s) will return to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, for an eagerly anticipated rematch on September 15.

Both fighters met for the first time in September 2017, in a competitive 12-round battle that ended in a split draw. The fight broke records for an event in a boxing arena in Las Vegas, as the T-Mobile Arena tickets sold out in a short time thanks to many fans from Mexico, Kazakhstan and other parts of the world.

The World Boxing Council has conducted comprehensive studies, clearly demonstrating that sudden dehydration can cause irreversible damage to boxers. That’s precisely why it instituted thirty and seven days weigh ins plus the twenty four hours prior to fight night weigh in,   to protect the health of boxers,  via gradual and sensible weight loss.  This procedure along with required medical tests are a humane and efficient system specifically geared for  the well being of the boxers.
