Golovkin on Fight with Lemieux: “Let’s make it NOW!”

“Let’s make it NOW!,” said Golovkin in a tweet posted just the morning after David Lemieux won the IBF title, in which he also tagged Lemieux himself and his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya.

Can a guy at least enjoy his victory for 24 hours?

Last night, David Lemieux emphatically beat Hassan N’Dam after four knockdowns led to a unanimous decision victory at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The 26-year-old native of Montreal earned the IBF Middleweight title but, after his win, there were already talks about a fight with WBA Middleweight champion, Gennady Golovkin.

“Let’s make it NOW!,” said Golovkin in a tweet posted just the morning after, in which he also tagged Lemieux himself and his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya.

Golovkin, the 33-year-old wrecking ball from Kazakhstan, is fresh of his win over Willie Monroe on this past May at the Forum in Inglewood, CA.

However, Golovkin has had trouble finding more lucrative opponents.

Daniel Geale and Martin Murray, two of his best previous opponents, were recognized as some of the best in their division.

However, they are hardly the kinds of A-level opponents needed to test Golovkin, nor did they have the power to really test Golovkin’s chin.

David Lemieux, however, definitely has the power to test Golovkin’s chin, but only time will tell if he truly is at the level of other people Golovkin has called out, including Carl Froch, Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto.

Do you think this fight will happen this year? Who do you think takes the win in what could surely be a slugfest?
