Earlier this week, ESPN‘s Dan Rafael reported that Daulis Prescott pulled out of his bout with Juan Carlos Burgos due to kidney stones.

Burgos and Prescott were set to tangle on  July 26 at the Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Sacramento. The bout was going to be the main event on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights.

While Burgos still plans to headline that event, his promoter, Artie Pelullo told RingTV.com that his fighter has a chance for a huge matchup after July 26.

I have Burgos (No. 2 in the WBO) fighting on ESPN in an outdoor arena and he will fight in the main event on July 26. So he’ll probably fight the winner between Mikey Garcia and Rocky Martinez, when that happens, for the WBO 130-pound title.

Many observers believed that Burgos clearly beat Martinez in their first bout earlier this year, but the judges ruled the fight a draw.

From there, Burgos petitioned the WBO for an immediate rematch, but was denied.

Martinez moved on and defended his title against Diego Magdaleno in Macau in April. Martinez earned a hard-fought split decision.

If Burgos can win impressively on July 26, he will set himself up nicely for a big bout towards the end of the year.
