If you want to talk to Jorge Cota (28-4, 25 KOs) again, you’re gonna need a ouija board.

Jermell Charlo (32-1, 16 KOs) came back into the boxing scene with a bang. Coming off a tight decision loss to Tony Harrison, Charlo looked to impress on his first night back.

Charlo’s fight tonight was not originally meant to be against Jorge Cota, but an injury suffered by Tony Harrison called for a postponement to Charlo’s rematch.

Having had his chance at redemption snatched from him only three weeks out from fight night, Jermell Charlo looked to waste no time and, after waiting out the first two rounds, unleashed two vicious right hands that knocked Cota down, then out cold, respectively.

Cota stayed down for nearly a minute after the referee waved the fight, and Charlo’s return had been announced.

Charlo stayed calm and respectful in the post-fight interview, stating that he was a better fighter than his last outing had shown him to be, as well as his expectation of seeing Tony Harrison in their rematch by the end of 2019.
