On Saturday, September 23, 2017, HBO’s World Championship Boxing broadcasts live from Inglewood’s Fabulous Forum for a solid doubleheader presented by Golden Boy Promotions.

In the co-main event, Antonio Orozco (26-0, 17 KOs) takes on Roberto Ortiz (35-1-2, 26 KOs). In the main event, WBA Lightweight champion Jorge Linares (42-3, 27 KOs) battles once-beaten contender Luke Campbell (17-1, 14 KOs).

Jorge Linares vs. Luke Campbell, 12 rounds, for Linares’ WBA Lightweight title

Jorge Linares (43-2, 27 KOs) retains the WBA, WBC Diamond & Ring lightweight titles with a split decision win over Luke Campbell (17-2, 14 KOs). Judges scored the bout 115-112 and 114-113 for Linares while the third judge scored it 115-113 for Campbell.

Romero Duno vs. Juan Sanchez, 8 rounds, Lightweights

Romero Duno improves to 15-1 after a unanimous decision win over Juan Sanchez (28-14, 14 KOs) All three judges scored the bout 78-74 in favor of Duno.

Azat Hovhannisyan vs. Sergio Frias, 10 rounds, Junior Featherweights

Azat Hovhannisyan (13-2, 10 KOs) earned the vacant WBC Continental Americas Super bantamweight title with a 10-round unanimous decision win over Sergio Frias (19-8-2, 10 KOs). Two judges scored the bout 100-90 while the third judge scored it 98-92 in favor of Hovhannisyan.

“We’re very happy to get this big belt,” said Hovhannisyan. “This has been years in the making and I fought in the ring with basically one hand as I fractured my right hand. The swelling reappeared during the fight. Frias was a tough opponent, but we put in the work to get the win.”

Abraham Lopez vs. Isao Carranza, 8 rounds, Featherweights

Super featherweight Abraham Lopez (23-1-1, 15 KOs) scored a KO victory over Isao Carranza (15-10-1, 9 KOs) of Mexico. Carranza’s corner requested a stop to the bout at the end of Round 4 after Lopez landed a couple of hard uppercuts and brutal body shots. All three judges scored it 40-36 in favor of Lopez at the time of stoppage.

“The fight went well, I wish I would’ve finished him earlier, but he was a true warrior,” said Lopez. “This fight was something I wanted to do, something I was waiting for. What’s next? Whatever the company has in mind. I’ll be working on everything, win or lose you always learn something. It doesn’t stop. We’re not perfect. I know I made mistakes, but we’re going to keep working.”

Rafael Gramajo vs. Pedro Melo, 6 rounds, Junior Featherweights

Super Bantamweight Rafael Gramajo (9-1-1, 2 KOs) opens the card with a six-round unanimous decision win over Pedro Melo (17-16-2, 8 KOs). Judges scored the bout 59-55, 58-56 and 58-56 all in favor of Gramajo.

“I felt good. I feel we started off well,” said Gramajo. “I’m proud of myself. I had not fought in a year, and we fought the fight that we wanted to. In boxing, there is always a punch that could catch you and hurt you, but thank God it didn’t hurt. I kept boxing and it was a good fight.”
