“I guess he blinked. That was the problem,” said Joshua Greer (12-1-1, 5 KOs) after his vicious Round 6 knockout of James Gordon Smith (11-1, 6 KOs).

The bout, which opened up the four-fight ShoBox telecast from the MGM Grand Detroit in Detroit, Michigan, was an exiting scrap between two Bantamweights who weren’t afraid to let their hands go.

Each man landed solid shots, but Greer’s punches were consistently more powerful and he rocked Gordon Smith on more than one occasion.

“He caught me with some good shots, but I had a good training camp. I could fight through anything,” said Greer.

The end came in Round 6 as Gordon Smith backed Greer into the ropes but instead of stepping in with an authoritative punch, Gordon Smith threw a limp jab and leaned in only to meet a hard right hand.

Gordon Smith fell face first on the canvas and that was all she wrote. And of course, Greer had to bring out his favorite prop just one more time.

“I told everyone when I got here I didn’t have that pillow for no reason. I said don’t blink and I wasn’t playing. I knew I was going to get him,” said Greer.
