On Friday, January 29, 2015, Featherweight prospect Julian Ramirez (16-0, 8 KOs) scored a ten-round unanimous decision victory against veteran Christopher Martin (28-6-3, 9 KOs) at the Belasco Theater in Downtown, Los Angeles.

The fight, which Ramirez won with scores of 100-90, 100-90 and 99-91, was the main event of a three-fight Estrella TV broadcast.

As soon as the fight began, Ramirez, a 22-year-old native of East Los Angeles, California, took the center of the ring to enforce his will on Martin, a 29-year-old native of San Diego, California.

Ramirez then spent the next nine rounds stalking Martin before landing short shots to the body and head at close range. Martin stood no chance as he lacked the power and skill to give any problems to Ramirez.

“I’m really happy with the decision,” said Ramirez.

“I know this fighter, Chris, and I knew he was going to go in there and give it his all. For my next fight, I know that I need to get with my camp focus on training and not get caught up with any distractions.”

In the co-main event, Abraham Lopez (20-0-1, 14 KOs) scored TKO victory against Carlos Valcarcel (14-7-4, 5 KOs) after a vicious assault to the body forced Valcarcel to retire on his stool at the end of Round 7.

In Round 1, as he aggressively took control of the ring, Lopez was hit with a hard counter shot that made his knees buckle. Though he had to deal with a bit of a scare, the native of La Puente, California continued his smart aggression in Round 2 with jabs and shots to the body.

At the end of Round 2, however, Valcarcel hit Lopez with a shot after the bell. The shot evidently frustrated Lopez, who began throwing shots more aggressively in Round 3.

Lopez then spent the next few rounds fighting on the inside, landing short hooks and uppercuts to the head before beginning a full-blown assault to the body in Round 7.

The body shots wore Valcarcel down quickly, and forced him to retire at the end of Round 7.

“I will take a short fight any day. I trained hard enough to possibly make it all 10 rounds, but the intensity of the fight made it possible to end things early,” said Lopez.

“I want to get a world championship this 2016, and this is the beginning of that,” concluded Lopez.
